Mission Statement

The Annenberg School of Nursing educates and trains women and men to become qualified vocational nurses and nursing assistants who will, in the course of their careers, meet the needs of a culturally diverse society in its continuum of illness and wellness, and to prepare for entry into nursing practice.

The Annenberg School and its proven faculty welcomes students from all backgrounds and working histories to discover and master the exciting curriculum of nursing science.

Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)

The function of the Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is to assist individuals, sick or well, in activities contributing to their health, recovery, or peaceful passing.

Licensed Vocational Nurses provide specific services to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed physician, a registered nurse, or both.

LVNs must be graduates from a school of vocational nursing like the Annenberg School, whose qualifications have been examined by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT). LVNs must also pass a national exam (NCLEX-PN) in order to become licensed.

Once licensed, LVNs are held to standards of practice under the State Nursing Practice Act.
