In an effort to serve an ever-growing population of aging Angelinos, the Jewish Home will be opening the Brandman Centers for Senior Care, a Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), this fall.

Walk into the Eisenberg Village arts and crafts room, and one of the first things you?ll notice is the variety of knit items hanging on racks, sitting in bins, and dangling from hangers. Residents and volunteers produce these scarves, sweaters, hats, and blankets with expert precision and skill. It was these creations that sent Elaine Campbell, who heads up the Scarves for Troops program at Operation Gratitude, to the Jewish Home in 2010.

Remember that time you were visiting your grandmother at Eisenberg Village, and something really funny happened? Or the day you visited your grandfather back when the Home was in Boyle Heights, and you left with a memory you?d cherish forever? Or the first time you stopped by to see your best friend?s grandparents, and were so inspired that you ended up volunteering or working for the Home? Moments like these stick with us, and help define who we are as we grow older. With 100 years worth of stories, the Jewish Home is now asking you to share them with us.
Talented Residents Present an Artful AfternoonBeautiful and thought-provoking paintings?handmade artisan jewelry?folk art and Judaica?soft and cozy knitted items?fanciful ceramics?All were there as a feast for the eyes and the soul at the recent Eisenberg Village Art Showcase. With works of art created by residents of the Goldenberg?Ziman Special Care Center and the Factor Family Foundation Nursing Building, guests were treated to a very special afternoon. The music of violist Joel Lish added just the right touch of elegance to the event in the Zuckerman Board Room.
Zumba Gets Jewish Home Staff into ShapeFitness ? physical, cognitive, and spiritual? is a cornerstone behind the Jewish Home?s philosophy of care for its residents. Recently, the Home began extending fitness opportunities to its staff. Each week employees from nursing, dietary, housekeeping, fiscal, and administration meet fitness instructor Karima Williams for an hour of Zumba class!
Join in the Celebration of Our 100th Passover SederAs the Jewish Home celebrates its Centennial year, we remember our beginnings. In 1912, five elderly homeless men were in need of a place to celebrate Passover. Members of the Los Angeles Jewish community stepped forward to make that possible. The place would become the Los Angeles Jewish Home, and the tradition of reaching out to the community continues to this day.
Annenberg School Adds Nurse Assistant ProgramThe Jewish Home's Annenberg School of Nursing (ASN) is now offering a nurse assistant program in addition to its vocational nursing program. Applications are being accepted for the first class which begins on May 7th. The 22-day program is designed to prepare students for the Red Cross certification examination.
